One week left for The Dance Trail 2018 application deadline!
The Dance Trail 2018 - Call Out for Artists
Brighton Dance Network invites artists to submit a proposal for a new work to be presented as part of our Dance Trail 2018 entitled 'Frequency'.
Application deadline 12 Feb
Performance Dates 11, 12, 13 May
The Brighton Dance Network is now in its fourth year of producing the Dance Trail for Brighton Fringe. This year's Trail is directed by Claire French of Restless Productions and our location is the Brighton Bandstand. With its strong visual presence, the detail of its architecture and the surrounding multiple levels it offers a lot of creative possibilities; in the bandstand, around the bandstand or under the bandstand.
We are interested in performance works that could potentially be seen from different audience perspectives and viewing points. Curatorially the idea is that the works could overlap and frame each other to guide the audience from one piece to the next.
The pieces could be inspired by the site’s history or simply could be an abstract contemporary work inspired by its architecture.
Repetition, loops, scales, levels, distances and playing with time. What does “Frequency" mean to you?
Application process
Please send a proposal for a work with your idea/ concept/ title, number of dancers, and any other site-related propositions you might be considering to clairefrench@restlessproductions.com
Please also provide a brief biography that helps the curatorial team to imagine the type of work you have presented and are interested in presenting and how you will approach the rehearsal process for the work you are proposing. (150 words approx)
Deadline: 12th February
Selected Participants will be informed by 19th February.
We look forward to hearing from you
